This Zipper Roadster is a modern recreation of a 1932 Ford Hot Rod. The car features a fiberglass body on a custom fabricated chassis. Zipper Motors was the creation of Darrell Zipp who was also the designer of this roadster and the builder of the custom chassis that are still in use today.
To the best of the family's knowledge, the car was acquired in or about 2012. We have not been able to determine who actually constructed this specific car, but the body number indicates its construction in 1998. That being the case it would have been done by the second generation of owners in Oregon.
Each Zipper Roadster was customized to the builder's tastes. Most of the Zipper Motor cars were sold as kits. To be assembled and customized by either the purchaser or their representative.
This car features a removable “Carson” style top, a Chevrolet 454 CI engine, Turbo Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission, solid axle front suspension, modified Jaguar rear suspension and Boyd Coddington wheels.
Less than 400 examples of the Zipper Roadster were ever built, and very very few of these have a solid axle front end like as this one.
