The elegant Pininfarina design was introduced in 1984 to replace the 512BBI, and paid homage to the famous 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. This ‘80s icon is one of 12 converted to spyder configuration by prominent coach builder Richard Straman. Just two examples were finished in black, this particular car in black on tan and a black on black example, which was used in the now-famous Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial. That car was OFFERED FOR SALE RECENTLY FOR $799,000 and has since been listed sold.

This rare convertible spent most of its time cruising the Pacific Coast Highway in California, which is confirmed by Carfax. A major service was performed in 2008 by Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo showing 50,488 miles. Work was inclusive of but not limited to a belt service, replacement of cam seals, new water pump, pump shaft, impeller, and bearings, as well as new cam belt tensioners, new belts, new thermostat, and gearbox service. The car was serviced again at 50,989 miles in Spokane, WA in 2013. In 2018, the car received new fuel pumps and fuel pump relays at Virtuoso Performance in Hayward, CA. The car was recently inspected by a well known Ferrari specialist as showing a 170psi average across all 12 cylinders - and the inspection noted a great driving example. Minimal miles have been added since the extensive work was performed, and supporting maintenance documents will be included with the sale.

Most recently the interior was completely retrimmed in factory original materials - this included complete new leather seating in original specification tan leather, black leather dash, door panels, and related console trim. A complete new cabin and trunk carpeting were fitted and a new convertible top in black canvas with accompanying leather tonneau cover was also completed...all at a cost of more than $35k, the result is fantastic.
